A Lockwood man led Waverly Police on a high speed chase through a village street. According to police, 33-year-old Aaron Fumich nearly caused an accident when he went through a stop sign at the intersection of Pine and Chemung Streets. When Police tried to stop him, he sped off onto Clinton Avenue, going as fast as 90 miles per hour down the side street, 60 miles per hour over the limit. He was eventually stopped on Lincoln Street where police said he yelled at officers, and even went as far as to throw a gallon of milk at one of them. Fumich was then pepper sprayed and removed from the vehicle and arrested. He faces charges of unlawful fleeing of a police officer in a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, reckless driving, and multiple traffic infractions. He was taken to the Tioga County Jail on $5,000 cash bail. Waverly Police were assisted by the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office and Greater Valley EMS.
