A mother is arrested after allegedly giving her son a ride while he was on the run from Waverly police Monday. Her arrest is in connection to a foot chase Monday, where 24-year-old Kevin Shipman, of Waverly, was walking on a railroad bridge with Julia Martin. The pair was approached by police advising them to stay off the tracks. As the two fled the scene, Shipman dropped a bag containing several items of drug paraphernalia, needles and narcotics, according to police. Shipman was allegedly picked up in a vehicle driven by his mother, Laurie S. Shipman, 48, on state Route 17. She was charged with obstruction of governmental administration. The search continues for Martin, who’s wanted for criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal trespass. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Waverly Police Department at (607) 565-2836.
