A fire in the Town of Barton on Saturday night resulted in one fatality. According to Waverly Barton Fire Chief Don Howard, a woman was killed in a trailer fire along Route 34 Saturday. The name of the woman has not been released at this time. Officials say they are waiting for the autopsy to be completed before giving any further information. The fire is said to have been accidental, and it started when grease from a pot on a stove top caught fire. Two people were said to be in the home when the fire started, which was right before 7 o’clock Saturday. Both the Waverly Barton Fire Department and the Sayre Fire Department responded to the scene.
