New York Sending Assistance to Florida

Governor Cuomo has announced that 10 Helicopters and 55 Soldiers from the New York Army National Guard deployed to Florida on Monday to assist in the response to Hurricane Irma. Helicopters departed from Ronkonkoma, Latham and Rochester yesterday, flying to Richmond, Virginia. They will arrive in Jacksonville, Florida today. A satellite communications system has also been deployed to Mississippi as part of the Hurricane Irma response and support to the Florida National Guard. The communications capability allows the rapid set up of internet, voice over IP and other communications capabilities during natural and manmade disasters.
