NY Air National Guard Sent to Assist Fighting California Fires

Nine members of the New York Air National Guard have been dispatched to California to assist in fighting their wildfires. The airmen will be using the MQ-9 aircraft, which is piloted remotely. The MQ-9 can stay aloft for over 14 hours and has sensors that can see through smoke. The aircraft can continuously orbit over specific geography and help firefighters make better response decisions. The airmen will return to New York on December 22nd.
