Tuesday night’s election saw millions of people across both Pennsylvania and New York head to the polls.
In New York, incumbent Democratic US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand cruised to re-election with 58 percent of the vote. She received over 4 million votes, compared to just over 3 million for Republican Michael Sapraicone.
Democrat Josh Riley has unseated Republican Marc Molinaro in the US House District 19 race. Riley received 50.5 percent of the vote to secure the win.
In House District 23, Nick Langworthy will head back to congress as he received 66 percent of the vote against Democrat Thomas Carle.
In the State Senate race in District 52, Democrat Lea Webb held off challenger Michael Sigler with 57 percent of the vote.
Also in New York, the ballot measure on Equal Protection rights passed with just over 61 percent of the vote.
In Pennsylvania, the US Senate race between incumbent Democratic Senator Bob Casey and Republican challenger Dave McCormick has not been called. McCormick narrowly leads the race with 96 percent reporting.
Republican Dan Meuser beat challenger Amanda Waldman with over 75 percent of the vote to secure his return to Congress.
State Senator Gene Yaw will serve another term as the Republican won his race over Kim Pitcher with 77.5 percent of the vote.
State Representatives Tina Pickett and Clint Owlett were both running unopposed.
Valley resident Stacy Garrity has been re-elected as Pennsylvania’s state treasurer. The Republican received over 3.4 million votes and beat challenger Erin McClelland with over 52 percent of the total vote.
Republican Dave Sunday won the Attorney General race with 51.16 percent of the vote, while Republican Tim DeFoor secured the Auditor General race with 51.49 percent.
