Four people were arrested and more than $14,000 in heroin was seized during a drug bust in the City of Binghamton and the Village of Johnson City. It started approximately a week ago, when Binghamton Police Officer Brian Murphy recovered a quantity of heroin during a traffic stop on the West Side. Officer Murphy was assigned to a post created three years ago to combat issues occurring in the Thorpe, Crandall, and Edwards Street area. The information obtained during the traffic stop was turned over to the Binghamton Police Community Response Team which conducted an investigation. During the two-day operation, 45-year-old Jorge Ornes was arrested in the Clinton Street area with 100 packets of heroin. 35-year-old Demetrius Drummond and 22-year-old Sharon Ogando were stopped on Clinton Street and were in possession of 380 packets of heroin. A search was conducted at their apartment located at 156 Ackley Avenue in the Village of Johnson City. Additional evidence consistent with selling heroin was seized at their apartment. The investigation then led police to 67 Cleveland Avenue in the City of Binghamton. As a result, 34-year-old Damien Ellison was arrested and police recovered 180 packets of heroin from his residence. During the two-day operation 730 packets of heroin with an estimated street value of $14,600 were seized. $2,932 in cash and a Cadillac were also seized.
