New York State Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos is under criminal investigation. Sources familiar with the investigation say that the U.S. Attorney is taking a hard look at Skelos’ ties to the real estate industry. The Republican, from Long Island, has not been charged with a crime. Skelos and the U.S. Attorney’s Office did not comment on the report. The news comes on the heels of the arrest last week of New York State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver on federal corruption charges. Silver is set to leave his post as speaker by Monday, according to state lawmakers.
