A man from Towanda has plead “no contest” to five felony charges resulting from an incident which occurred last October. 46-year-old Richard Vanderpool has been charged with stealing a 2011 Chevy Malibu. According to police records, Vanderpool later used that car to ram into the back of a state police patrol vehicle, causing a chain reaction which pinned one state trooper between two cars, and injured another. Vanderpool is expected back in court in September for sentencing.
