Nichols Town Board members are discussing the possibility of taking legal action against the US Army Corps of Engineers. According to Town Supervisor Kevin Englebert, the US Army Corps of Engineers has wrongfully deemed a parcel of land in the Town as being a protected wasteland. That parcel of land is where Town officials had hoped to place a new highway garage. Englebert says that the land has a slight slope and poor drainage, but is not a wetland. Construction of a new town highway building has been stalled since April due to the matter. Town of Nichols attorneys said they’d be willing to take on the case, but it has NOT been officially determined if legal action will be taken.
