Residents of the Vestal School District will head to the polls today to decide if the district should be allowed to establish a capital reserve fund. This fund, essentially a type of savings account for the district, would be used in the future to cover the local cost of building projects and improvements to district facilities instead of directly impacting taxes. Voters would then have to approve spending the money out of the reserve fund for each project. Several local districts already have a capital reserve fund and have used it to help pay for recent building projects. Residents are asked to vote between 10am and 8pm at 201 Main Street in the building that houses the Vestal School District Administrative Offices and the Vestal Senior Center.
