It’s a competition that allows students to think outside the box to solve problems and the Owego Free Academy Odyssey of the Mind team has been working hard since August to perfect their solution. They placed fifth in their division in the New York State Championships at BU over the weekend. But then the team received some good news. OFA’s team won a special award for creativity, automatically advancing them to the world finals at Michigan State University at the end of May. But with excitement also comes some stress. The team now has to raise thousands of dollars for registration and travel costs, as well as transportation costs for their equipment. In order to get to the big competition, the group has to raise just under $4,500. They plan on holding fundraisers over the next few weeks. The world finals run from May 22nd through May 25th.
