Owego Girls Volleyball Team Wins State Championship

The Owego Free Academy Girl’s volleyball team has WON the Class B state championship in Glens Falls. Owego defeated Hudson Falls in straight sets: 27-25, 25-22, and 25-19. This is the third OFA Girls Volleyball state championship in the last five years. Grace Thomas and McKenzie Hart were named to the All Tournament Team. Brinn Shaughnessy was named the championship match MVP.

In other high school football playoff action: The Tioga Tigers lost a very competitive Class D semifinal to Maple Grove on Friday night at Ty Cobb Stadium in Endicott. The final score was 32-27. Tioga Senior Nick Klossner caught nine passes for 164 yards and 3 touchdowns in the effort. Maple Grove will play for the Class D championship against Cambridge at the Carrier Dome on Friday. And, in Class B, Chenango Forks defeated Cheektowaga 48-28 to earn a trip to the Carrier Dome. The Blue Devils will play Pleasantville for the state championship this Sunday.
