Administrators for the Union-Endicott School District are looking to close a budget gap of $671,000 in order to stay within the tax levy limit for the next school year. At a budget workshop on Wednesday, Superintendent Sue McLeod showed her disappointment in the amount of state aid given to the district. Currently, the most recent draft of the district’s budget would require a 4.57 percent increase to the tax levy. The state-calculated maximum tax levy for the district is just a 2.82 percent increase, which is why the district needs to bridge the $671,000 gap. A final workshop budget will be held on April 7th.
