The Union-Endicott school district is looking for the public’s vote for a $7.8 million capital project that would help improve classroom door locks and repave the high school parking lot. A public referendum vote set to take place in December will ask for the approval for the district to use $700,000 from its capital reserve, with a majority of the funding coming in the form of building aid from the state’s education department. Residents would also be responsible for $100,000 of the project’s cost, which would be paid for with property tax during the 2016-2017 school year if approved.
