The Union-Endicott Central School District heard public feedback yesterday regarding its proposed budget. The 2015-2016 budget calls for a 1.75 percent spending increase, which amounts to a roughly $1.3 million dollar budget increase. Included in the budget are plans to hire a high school resource officer, upgrade technology and help students with learning disabilities. The proposed budget includes decreases in teacher and staff retirement spending. District officials said they plan to rely less heavily on reserve funds for the 2015-2016 school year. The proposed tax levy increase is 1.3 percent, which is below the tax cap. The school board said partially-restored state aid helped the district’s financial stability. The budget vote is scheduled for May 19.
