A New York State Assemblyman was sanctioned on Wednesday by Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie. Steve McLaughlin, from Rensselaer County is alleged to have sought nude photos from an Assembly employee and lying about the incident to investigators. McLaughlin is now barred from hiring interns. McLaughlin has denied the charges. In any event, he will be leaving the Assembly in January, 2018. In November he was elected Rensselaer County Executive.
