Cal Harris is not guilty of murder.
That was the verdict announced by Judge Richard Mott in Schoharie County Court today. The judge announced his verdict around 2:15pm, declaring simply “not guilty,” while announcing his decision to both sides in the courtroom.
This was the fourth murder trial for the former Tioga County businessman, who elected to have a trial by judge this time. Harris had been convicted twice before but those convictions had been overturned on appeal. The third trial ended when the jury could not reach a verdict.
Harris is now free after the judge’s decision today.
