A Chenango County man led police on a car chase before eventually crashing into a ditch. Police attempted to pull over 21-year-old Cody Shamp for driving 50 miles per hour in a 30 mile per hour zone, but he sped up his vehicle after a Chenango County Sheriff’s deputy turned on his emergency lights. Shamp then accelerated to 85 miles per hour before driving onto a seasonal road and losing control of his vehicle. After his vehicle came to rest in the ditch, he was taken into custody. He faces charges of unlawfully fleeing a police officer and reckless endangerment, along with a number of traffic violations. He was sent to the Chenango County Jail on $10,000 bail.
