An area school district has settled with a former teacher for nearly $8,000 to end a lawsuit stemming from a dispute with a student before the teacher’s retirement. 61-year-old Thomas Snyder sued the Chenango Valley School District after the school’s board declined to provide legal defense for him in a criminal case that alleged Snyder had harassed a 15-year-old student by pointing his finger at him. In May, Snyder filed a civil lawsuit against the district for declining to defend him in court. Reports have just been released that back in October, the school agreed to pay Snyder just over $7,800 to withdraw the lawsuit.
