Cornell University’s medical school in Ithaca is expected to start trials of a new anti-cocaine vaccination on humans within the next few weeks. The human trials come after nearly a decade of research and promising trials on animals. The drug blocks the cocaine from getting to a user’s brain, eliminating the high. It does NOT, however, eliminate an the cravings felt by a user. The new medication would be administered with ongoing drug addiction counseling.
