A Corning man is facing charges after being accused of helping a fugitive who escaped police. Officials say 64-year-old Robert Bavisotto helped 35-year-old Billie Joe Ribble evade police last month, by letting her stay at his home while the authorities searched for her. Ribble escaped police custody in Pennsylvania in early March, then kidnapped a woman and her baby, forcing them to drive her to New York. Officials say that Bavisotto picked up Ribble after she was in New York, and took her to his home in Corning, where she was later arrested. Bavisotto has been charged with hindering prosecution and is currently being held at the Steuben County jail on $20,000 bail.
