If you plan on buying a hunting, fishing or trapping licenses in New York soon, you may want to get it before December 26th. The Department of Environmental Conservation will begin a blackout period of about one to two weeks. During that time, those interested will not be able to buy a license in hunting, trapping or fishing. Hunters also won’t be able to report a harvest. The blackout is a result of the DEC switching from its current computer licensing system to a new system. The DEC’s contract with the current provider expires at the end of the year.
