After the Glen Aubrey Fire Company’s former treasurer allegedly embezzled close to $30,000, the department is working to get back some of the money that was lost. 58-year-old Terry Gow was arrested in January and charged with felony third-degree grand larceny after she was accused of stealing the funds, which came from taxpayer money, dating back to 2012. The department has held fundraisers, including a spaghetti dinner this month, to help fill the bank account back up. According to reports, the case was opened when the M&T Bank in Whitney Point called the fire company to let them know their accounts were empty, which led to Gow admitting she took the money. Over the course of two years, Gow is believed to have taken funds several times, ranging from hundreds of dollars to around a thousand dollars per withdrawal. She then used the money for personal expenses, mostly to pay bills. After she was initially taken into custody last month in Whitney Point, she was released pending further court action.
