There will be a new addition to school lunch menus across New York State in September: Greek yogurt. The initiative is part of a USDA pilot program being launched in four states: New York, Tennessee, Idaho, and Arizona. The goal is to see if Greek yogurt will be a cost-effective option for students. Senator Charles Schumer first began to push the idea in June of last year as a way to take advantage of the Greek yogurt industry, which has been growing in New York state in recent years.
