Local officials want the public that they have access to the Home Performance with Energy Star Program. Homeowner Olga Ehret says her family couldn’t get their 19th-century farmhouse to heat over 50 degrees last winter, and spent close to $2,000 on heating oil. After signing up for the Home Performance and Energy Star Program, the Ehret family was able to obtain grants and low-interest loans to install foam insulation. This winter, she says their home in Johnson City is now at a comfortable 70 degrees and her heating bill has been cut in half.
