Ithaca’s West Hill area has seen an increase in police patrols, and a former Major League MVP is part of the reason. Crime has gone up in the West HIll area in recent years, and former big-leaguer Mo Vaughn, along with his business partner Eugene Schneur, donated $12,000 last week to fund two-person foot patrols in the area. Vaughn is a part owner of Omni New York LLC, a real estate development company. Vaughn and Schneur own and manage the West Village Apartment complex in the neighborhood. Ithaca Police say the donation is a great help to restoring West Hill back to a safe and vibrant area to live. Vaughn was the winner of the 1995 American League Most Valuable Player award, as a member of the Boston Red Sox, and was a 3-time All-Star.
