The conviction of former State Senator Tom Libous has been vacated and the fine of $50,000 that he paid before his death will be returned to his family. The conviction was vacated by the Court of Appeals, since Libous passed away from cancer before he had the opportunity to appeal his conviction. Libous was convicted on corruption charges in 2015, accused of lying to the FBI in a case related to his son. He passed away last May before his appeal could be heard.
