Two people have been arrested for cooking methamphetamine inside their home in the presence of children. The Chemung County Sheriff ‘s Office searched a home at 1778 Pennsylvania Avenue in the town of Southport around 5:30 Saturday morning after getting a tip. 38-year-old Raymond Buchanan, and 24-year-old Lauren Buchanan, were charged with unlawful manufacturing of methamphetamine and endangering the welfare of a child. Raymond Buchanan was also charged with criminal possession of a weapon. Deputies found a loaded .45 caliber handgun, equipment, and ingredients to make methamphetamine and various solvents inside the home. Both Buchanans were arraigned in Southport Town Court and sent to the Chemung County Jail without bail. The investigation is ongoing.
