Penn State Police Locate Hit And Run Vehicle

Pennsylvania State Police have located the vehicle they believe was involved in Wednesday morning’s fatal-hit-and-run in Susquehanna County. The vehicle, which was described as a smaller, silver SUV with black plastic trim was located within the county.

Police believe they know the identity of the driver, but have declined to provide further information because of the ongoing investigation.

20-year-old Earl Youngs of Hallstead was killed when the he was allegedly struck by the vehicle on Route 11 in Great Bend Township. The incident took place around 1:30 in the morning.

Just hours later in Great Bend, a second fatal accident took place. Around 8 o’clock on State Route 171 near Towner Road, 46-year-old Cindy Westbrook of Susquehanna was heading north when she struck a ditch, drove off the side of the road, and rolled the vehicle before it was stopped when the roof struck a tree. Westbrook was pronounced dead at the scene. A 1-year-old boy was a passenger in the vehicle during the crash, and was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries. The child was in a safety seat and Westbrook was traveling at a safe speed, but police say the roadway was wet with ice patches.
