Tompkins County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating an armed robbery and carjacking that took place in Ithaca early this morning. Just before 2 o’clock, police were called to South Applegate Road in Enfield where a man said his vehicle had just been stolen. The incident is said to have taken place in the 200 block of West State Street in downtown Ithaca. The Ithaca Police Department was also called to investigate. The victim told police that he was stopped in a parking lot after getting lost, when a female approached his car, pointed a handgun through the driver side window and ordered him to move over to the passenger seat. After the woman took over the driver’s seat, another male got into the back of the car, and the victim said that the man pressed a handgun to the back of his head as the female drove them toward Elmira, before they stopped and told the man to get out of the car. Police are now looking for the vehicle, a blue 2005 Volvo SUV with New York plates. Anyone with further information should call the Ithaca Police Department at 272-3245.
