A Police Standoff in Danby, New York, which started on Tuesday, has lasted until today. According to authorities, on Tuesday, Tompkins County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to arrest a man wanted on an arrest warrant. During this encounter the man barricaded himself and his family inside his home on Hornbrook Road between 96B and Nelson Road. The man also is said to have fired a rifle shot at a patrol car. Several law enforcement and mental health organizations were called to the scene from all over, including Broome County, Ithaca, Cornell, Syracuse, and beyond. Through negotiations, authorities have managed to get the man’s family to a secure location. Armored vehicles from Broome County, Onondaga County, and New York State Police have also been on scene.
