The East Branch Rest Area building along westbound Route 17 is closed for renovation, according to current New York State transportation information.
The site serves westbound traffic between Exits 90 and 89 in the Town of East Branch, Delaware County. The building is expected to remain closed through next summer while the work continues.
The parking lot will remain available during construction, and portable toilets will be provided. Drivers should use caution while entering and leaving the property because equipment and work activity may be present.
The Department of Transportation lists the rest area with 29 car spaces, seven truck spaces and two accessible parking spaces. Its regular amenities include restrooms, vending machines, picnic areas and a pet walk, though building services are affected by the closure.
Travelers can check 511NY before leaving for current road conditions, incidents and service-area information. The transportation department says schedules can change as work progresses.
