Tonight in Men’s basketball #12 Syracuse University will take on #11 Georgetown, at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse. Pre-game coverage starts at 6:30 tonight on 1330-AM and 107.9FM. The Orange who are 20-4 for the season, and 7-4 in the Big East conference have beaten the Hoyas in three of their last four meetings, ended a four-game losing streak last week by earning road wins over #9 U-Conn and South Florida.
Tonight’s matchup will also feature SU trying to help its head coach, Jim Boeheim, record his 850th victory. Boeheim, who’s in the midst of his 35th season at SU, needs just one win to join Bob Knight, Dean Smith, Adolph Rupp and Mike Krzyzewski as the only NCAA Division I men’s basketball head coaches to accomplish the milestone.
To earn that honor, Boehiem will need forwards, senior Rick Jackson and junior Kris Joseph, to be at their best. Currently, Joseph leads the team in scoring average. However, Jackson, who was named to the Big East honor roll on Monday, has been consistently good. Entering Wednesday’s game, Jackson leads the Big East in rebounding and field-goal percentage.
