Thursday is Primary Day across the state. Locally in Tioga County, two Republican candidates are vying for the party’s nomination to run for County Clerk. Debbie Howard and Andrea Klett are both seeking the Republican nomination.
Howard has spent the last 10 years as the District Manager for the New York State Assembly. She is also on the board of directors for both the Tioga County Rural Ministry and the Tioga County Chamber of Commerce. Klett has spent the last eight years as the Town of Owego Assessor. The US Army Veteran and Cornell University graduate has also worked for the Tioga County Soil and Water Conservation District.
Sandra Knapp-Dunbar is the Democratic candidate for County Clerk.
Other primaries in Tioga County will be held in Tioga, Candor, and Richford. Tioga has two different primaries, as incumbent Town Justice Paul Martin is running against challenger Miranda Fisher. Karen Wells and Brenda Middendorf are vying for the nomination for Town Clerk. Candor has three running for the Republican nomination for Town Clerk: Nancy Leonard, Patricia Hallstead and Connie Kulze. Richford has three running for two spots on the Republican ticket for Councilman.
Polls will be open from noon to 9 p.m.
