The New York State Trooper who was injured in a roadside crash on Interstate 86 in Steuben County remains in critical condition, but doctors are optimistic that he will survive. 45-year-old Craig Foglia was in the midst of a traffic stop and sitting inside his Dodge Charger patrol vehicle when it was rear-ended by a pickup truck traveling at 65 miles per hour Wednesday. Foglia was flown to Strong Hospital and underwent two surgeries. State Police don’t know what caused Kenneth Aukett of New Jersey to plow into the patrol car. He was taken to Guthrie Hospital in Sayre for treatment. The investigation into the crash continues. Foglia is a 13-year veteran of the State Police and is assigned to the Painted Post barracks.
