Action Express Team Wins Six Hours At Watkins Glen

WATKINS GLEN, NY (June 30, 2013) – Joao Barbosa captured his second-consecutive Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen victory with co-driver Christian Fittipaldi, and in doing so, also scored his second consecutive victory for the No. 5 Action Express GRAND-AM Rolex Sport Series team.
With the win, Action Express takes the North American Endurance Championship (NAEC) presented by VISITFLORIDA.com lead.
The No. 3 8Star Motorsports Corvette DP of Michael Valiante, Enzo Potolicchio and Stephane Sarrazin finished second, a mere .265 seconds behind Fittipaldi. Starworks Motorsport’s Brendon Hartley, Pierre Kaffer and Scott Mayer rounded out the podium in their No. 8 Ford Riley.
In the GT class, Robin Liddell drove the No. 57 Stevenson Motorsports Camaro GT.R to Gatorade Victory Lane for his second-consecutive Six Hours victory as well.
Leh Keen, co-driving with Emil Assentato and Anthony Lazzaro for AIM Autosport Team FXDD Racing with Ferrari 458 took second in the GT class. John Potter and Andy Lally piloted their Magnus Racing Porsche GT3 Cup to third.
In the GX class, the No. 00 Visit Florida Racing Mazda 6 with co-drivers Joel Miller, Tristan Nunez and Yojiro Terada claimed their fourth consecutive victory of the season.
Next up for Watkins Glen International is the Finger Lakes Wine Festival presented by Yancey’s Fancy New York’s Artisan Cheese (July 12-14). Racing returns August 8-11 for the Cheez-It™ 355 at The Glen.
