Binghamton Devils coming in 2017

It’s official, Binghamton has a new hockey team for next season.

“I’ve very pleased today to announce that the New Jersey Devils will be bringing their American Hockey League development team to Binghamton, and the Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena will be their home,” Executive Vice President Tom Mitchell told those assembled at a press conference yesterday.

The new team will be known as the Binghamton Devils. They will be the seventh pro hockey franchise to play at the Arena since the Broome Dusters started in 1973. The current Binghamton ownership group will continue running day-to-day operations for the Devils and the affiliation agreement is for five years.
