The Binghamton Senators completed a 4 game sweep of the Charlotte Checkers last night to win the Richard F. Canning Trophy and the Eastern Conference Championship. The Senators scored 2 goals in the first period that were matched by the Checkers in the 2nd. Both teams scored in the 3rd period to send the game into overtime. With 13:05 gone in overtime, Team Captain Ryan Keller took the pass from the face off and put it into the net to give the Sens the 4-3 win and the series. They will now advance to the Calder Cup Finals and play the winner of the Hamilton Bulldogs and Houston Aeros. Houston has a 3-1 lead in that series. Tickets for the Calder Cup Finals go on sale at 10 AM Thursday.
