Syracuse had a strong start and had the better of 11th ranked Georgetown for much of the game.
But an 11 – 3 run by the Hoyas late in the fourth quarter sealed a defeat for the Orange 64 -56.
Syracuse had their chances in the closing minutes, but couldn’t make a clutch basket.
Neither team had a great shooting night from the floor. Georgetown hit 44%; Syracuse only 39%.
However the Hoyas had the edge in three pointers, scoring 9 for 21 attempts, while Syracuse hit 4 of 16.
Three Syracuse players were in double digits. Kris Joseph had 14.
Freshman VJ Fair scored 12, and Brandon Triche had 11.
Austin Freeman led the scoring for Georgetown with 14.
Syracuse now has a record of 20 wins and 5 losses. They have 7 wins and 5 losses in the Big East.
