The Owego Free Academy Lady Indians won their out-of-section matchup with Wellsville of Section 5, 61 to 44. A familiar foe, OFA played Wellsville last season, but last year’s Lions squad lost 4 seniors, 3 of which are playing college basketball. As has been the case for much of the year, it was an impressive performance by the Merrill sisters of OFA, as Rachel and Emily both finished the game with 20 points, accounting for nearly two-thirds of their team’s offense. OFA Senior Caitlin Watson also chipped in 9 points of her own. For Wellsville, it was Jordan Pearson who scored over half of her team’s points, finishing with a game-high 23. With the win, Owego moves to 5-2 on the season.
