Owego Free Academy senior Jill Silvanic signed a national letter of intent yesterday to play softball at Division I, St. Peter’s in New Jersey. The signing took place in the OFA lobby. Jill is the daughter of Tom and Denise Silvanic of Owego. Silvanic was selectively classified to the varsity softball team as a 7th-grader. She was a first-baseman, and was converted to catcher last season. She has batted over .400 each of the last two seasons and has been a member of the Tremors travel softball team for the past four years, competing against the top travel softball teams in the country. She was recruited to play catcher for an up-and-coming St. Peter’s squad, playing in the Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference. Silvanic is also a three-year starter, playing guard for the OFA girls varsity basketball team.
