The Owego Free Academy girls volleyball team has won the Southern Tier Athletic Conference championship for the third time running.
OFA defeated Horseheads 3 – 1 for the title. OFA completed the regular season 16 – 0, and will be the top seed in the Section 4 Tournament.
Owego was behind twice in the final set, but a 20 point run sealed a 25 – 16 win.
Owego won the first two sets, 25-12 and 25-22, before Horseheads took the third, 25-23.
Kim Lavender led Owego with 12 kills; Paige Shaughnessy had 10. Abbey Manning had 26 digs. Carrie Farr had three aces and 29 assists.
Senior Rachel Merrill contributed 14 blocks, including three during the crucial final set surge.
Karly Oliver led the Blue Raiders with eight kills. Logan Wieziolowski had five kills and eight blocks, and Elisabeth Estep had eight digs.
Owego will play either Norwich or Maine-Endwell in the Class B final to be held November 2nd at 3:30PM in Watkins Glen.
