The Union-Endicott boys basketball team will be coming off last weekend’s enormous upset win over the #2 team in the state in Mount Vernon, as they move to the state semifinals in Glens Falls this weekend. U-E’s win over Mount Vernon was the first time Mount Vernon coach Bob Cimmino had lost to a team from Section 4 in his twenty-plus years of coaching. The last time a Section 1 team lost to a Section 4 team in a state regional game was when Vestal beat Spring Valley 18 years ago. The 17-4 Tigers will be taking on Section 6’s Jamestown in the Class AA semifinal at 12:30 on Saturday at the Glens Falls Civic Center. The winner of that game will take on the winner of the matchup between Section 11’s Brentwood and Section 2’s Green Tech for the state title on Sunday.
