On Friday night, Syracuse improved to 11-0 on the season with their non-conference victory over High Point University, 75-54. Trailing in the game at one point 40-39, Syracuse managed to go on a 28-3 run over the course of almost 13 minutes in the game to help secure their 49th consecutive home non-conference win. Trevor Cooney led Syracuse with 17 points, including 5 3-pointers, the sixth time he’s accomplished that feat this season. C.J. Fair also chipped in 15 points and five rebounds for the Orange. John Brown, arguably the best player on the High Point squad, and pre-season conference player of the year in the Big South, was held to just six points and six rebounds on the night. Devante Wallace was the lone scorer in the double digits for the Panthers, with ten points. Next up for the Orange on the schedule is a date with former Big East foe Villanova on Saturday, as Syracuse will look to make it 50 straight non-conference home wins. On the high school side of things, after a weekend break for the OFA teams, the Lady Indians will make their return to the court today for a matinee matchup with Wellsville. The Section 5 team will make the trip to Reppert Gymnasium to take on OFA, with game coverage starting at 2:45 this afternoon right here on News Radio WEBO.
