Some local high school football coaches are in Texas today coaching for USA Football. Maine-Endwell’s Matt Gallagher is the head coach of USA Football’s Team Stripes, which will play Team Stars on Tuesday as part of International Bowl XVIII. Accompanying Coach Gallagher on the trip are his assistants John Frieser and Duane Titus, Windsor assistant Ben Amorese, and head coaches Steve Virkler from Owego, Waverly’s Jason Miller, and Dave Hogan from Chenango Forks. Together, they are overseeing the 50-player Under-15 team during practices this weekend before playing at 11am Tuesday in AT&T Stadium on the same field where the Dallas Cowboys play. It will be streamed live on ESPN3. The International Bowl event showcases 500 of the country’s top middle and high school football players.
