Local high school student-athletes are preparing for state championships this weekend. The Tioga football team will play Section 5’s Bishop Kearney at 5pm Friday at Cicero-North Syracuse High School. Maine-Endwell will play at 8pm Friday and Chenango Forks will play at 12pm Saturday. All of this weekend’s football games will be televised live on Time Warner Cable Sports and online if you have a Time Warner account.
The Owego and Tioga volleyball teams will be in Glens Falls this weekend. Pool play for the top four teams in each class will be held on Saturday. Tioga will play in the morning while Owego will take the court in the afternoon. The top two teams in each class will play for the state title on Sunday in the Glens Falls Civic Center. Local swimmers and divers, including seven from Owego, are headed to Ithaca College for state championships. Preliminaries begin Friday morning and the championships will be held Saturday.
