Marquette defeated Syracuse Saturday 76 – 70 for their first four game losing streak in five years.
Syracuse never led in the game and was behind 42 – 31 at the half.
The Orange started the second half with an 8 -1 run and were able to tie the score on two occasions.
However, Marquette made the shots when they needed and pulled ahead in the final minutes.
Fouls were costly for the Orange. Marquette had 33 free throw opportunities, making 24. Syracuse made 8 in only 14 chances.
Kris Joseph led Syracuse with 18 points. Jae Crowder had 25 for the Golden Eagles.
