Dean Shaut and Stephen Masch, members of the Rick Ware Racing’s Nascar Truck and Nationwide teams, were involved in a one car accident Friday night on their way home from Darlington.
Dean Shaut was pronounced dead at the scene.
He lost control of his Toyota Tundra on a sharp curve, hit a pole and tree, and rolled several times.
Speed is believed to have been a factor.
Passenger Stephen Masch was airlifted to Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC with spinal cord and head injuries.
Dean Shaut and Stephen Masch began assisting RWR this season on the Nationwide and Truck teams as independent contractors
Dean was a 20- year Nascar veteran as a fabricator and mechanic working for such teams over the years such as Hendricks, MB2, Evernham and others.
Stephen Masch was an independent contract mechanic for the RWR Nationwide #15 team driven by rookie Timmy Hill.
Rookie Jeffrey Earnhardt drives the RWR NCWTS team the two men assisted.
Funeral Services for Dean Shaut will be held this Friday March 18th at Davidson Funeral Home in Winston Salem, NC 27127.
