The football teams from Owego and Waverly meet for the second straight week Friday to determine who gets to play for the Section 4 Class B Championship. Owego earned the home playoff game with their thrilling 13-12 win last week. Waverly will look to avenge that narrow loss tonight in a game that will be heard live on WEBO. Kickoff is at 7 and our coverage will begin with the WEBO Pregame Show at 6:30. Tonight’s winner will face either Chenango Valley or Susquehanna Valley in the Class B title game next Saturday, Nov. 7, at 3pm at Binghamton’s Alumni Stadium.

This is the first time Owego has made the playoffs since 2012. They have never won a sectional championship. Waverly was in the playoffs last year and won sectional championships in 2008 and 2011.

Two other Tioga County teams are in the playoffs this year.

In Class C, Newark Valley will play Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour at Union-Endicott Saturday at 3:30pm. Both teams have only suffered one loss, with the Cardinals falling to top-seed Chenango Forks and Watkins Glen losing at Owego Week 1. Forks and Dryden are in the other semifinal.

In Class D, Tioga and Walton have won the sectional title seven out of the last eight years, with Tioga winning the last four. The Tigers and Warriors will meet in a semifinal Saturday at noon at Binghamton’s Alumni Stadium. Undefeated Deposit-Hancock will oppose Moravia in the other semifinal.
